Ashlynn's brains

I had to post something new and get Miss South Carolina off the top of our blog. Sorry, Gorgeous.
Ashlynn is on her 4th day of 1st grade, and just yesterday she blew me away with her brains - and sass. She explained that Mrs.O taught her that bat's will come down and catch a rock if you throw it up in the air. I took them to Farmers Market last night and she tried it. She was dissappointed when a bat didn't swoop out of the sky. I told her that maybe the bat didn't see it. She just looked at me incredulously and sassed,"Hello! Echolocation!"

I thought my kids were smart? Maybe they all got dummer as they got older? No, seriously, Ashlynn will be someone to be reckoned with someday, her brains, her looks and her personality - watch out world!!!

Dang, I don't even know that word! That's so funny -- I guess Ashlynn's never going to be a kid you can get away with anything with.

Seriously she is not one to be reckoned with. I am doing some real soul searching lately to deal with her. I feel like she is a PMS'ing teenager in a 6 year old body. She has an huffy answer to everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If anyone wants to work on your patience, let me know and you can rent her for a day. Free of charge. - Brian

Brian,
Your post made me think of something she said a month or so ago to me. We were watching a movie and she wanted me to go to her bedroom and get something for her. I said, No, if you want it badly enough, you can go. We got into a disagreement (my mistake) that she shouldn't have to go get it because she'd never seen the movie before. I said I hadn't either (why was I continueing this conversation?!) She said but she wanted to see it. I said, casually, Maybe I do too (I was trying to teach her to view it from someone else's perspective...it obviously backfired) She said under her breath that she wanted to see it badder. Luckily her childish grammar reminded me to shut my mouth and be the adult.
