Cutenize

Sometimes our children pluck things out of the air. Sometimes they copy things they have heard. But sometimes I am convinced that they lay awake at night and figure out ways to manipulate the English language in order to gain more power and control of the world around them. For example:
Ashlynn was with Mae when she came across a group of men in a store. She leaned over to Mae and said, "Watch how I cutenize them." and proceeded to enter into their circle and charm the pants off of them until they were laughing at her. She was the center of attention and in COMPLETE control of her environment.
Example two:
We are in the doctors office when we run into a little boy from Ashlynn's class, Eduardo, whom she has a love hate relationship with. In other words, if it is possible to have a crush on a boy in first grade - she does, however, this relationship consists of teasing, avoidance and embarrassment. When she saw him I said, "Well go say hi." She stood at the top of the hall, crossed her little arms in an impatient manner and called, "Eduardo." Her tone of voice was exactly like a teenager saying, "uh HELLO!" when they are calling your attention to something dumb you have done. When she got his attention, she kept her arms crossed but gave a little flick of a wave as if to say, "What do you think you are doing here?!"
Her final comment. "This was just so unexpected."

Love the new look of the blog! Your kids amaze me. Im still trying to get Davis to say "mom." He use to say it but now has decided that everyone is Dad again! Caleb we are trying to just understand what he is saying half the time. You are so going to have your hands full when she turns 13! Although, you probably do have them full now!

That little girl is amazing! Not only does she grasp the english language, but the male/female dynamic and her role in it! Look out boys!

I think we just need to attach a permanent recorder to her so that we can accurately copy down all those outlandish, but correct, things she says. I'm just shaking my head.

Wow, I so agree with Beagle Buds. Ashlynn is really a woman in a little girl body. She so reminds me of the perfect girly girl. She will never have trouble getting married, nor will she ever have children that misbehave- one look from her and they will know better!

Man, you guys are in trouble with that one. That is soooo hilarious that she is so acutely aware of her power to charm at such a young age.
