Ty continues to make progress towards becoming a little more mellow and less like Tenny the tornado.
Just this morning, he got into a fight with Briggs. He started screaming and yelling at Briggs, and just as I came upstairs to see what was going on, he had started doing his typical "destroy everything in sight cause I'm mad!" trick. I stopped him just as he was dumping out puzzle boxes. I calmly picked him up and carried him into his room where I told him he needed to calm down and then he could come out of his room and we'd talk. Before leaving the room I told him what I always do, "Don't destroy your room or I'm going to be mad." He does this routine pretty well, and after a few minutes he comes down saying, "Mom. I calmed down now."
Today when he said this I told him we needed to talk. "I know you were angry because Briggs wouldn't let you have the remote. I'm sure that made you feel mad inside. But that doesn't make it o.k. to start destroying everything around you." I was bowled over when he replied, "But how do I make Briggs listen?"
Maybe this doesn't seem like a big deal to anyone else, but this is a huge breakthrough for him to communicate this. Now we have something to work on when he get's into Godzilla mode.

That is truly amazing that he could verbalize that. We are still going through that in our house.

He really is a remarkable little boy...It's been interesting for me as a semi-outsider to watch him progress. He reminds me so much of Harry...they just need to figure out a way to be heard.

Wow Kate, that really is a breakthrough! I always knew he was a smart kid in a baby body. He feels everything very intensley.Good for some things, bad for others. Congrats on you hanging in with good mothering skills!
